According to the Dictionary a "monitor" is a person who "advises, warns, or cautions." A Braille monitor is one who carries on this function for the blind and this is the pledge of the editors of the Braille Monitor magazine.
The Monitor reports on advocacy and protection of civil rights, assistance in self-organization and social concerns affecting the blind; gives news of aids and appliances; how-to information; and features on blind persons. Eleven issues of The Braille Monitor are published each year.
