Sheltered Workshops

In my oppinion calling sheltered workshops for the blind a service is stretching the English language quite a bit. I put this item last in the list of "services" because it is a last resort for anyone who is just blind.

As I hope is obvious by the nature and content of these pages, blind people do not need special places to work, or for that matter to play. Blindness by itself is not the totally disabling disaster some make it out to be.

So why bring up sheltered workshops? Simple, to make you aware of them, what they do and don't do, and express the hope that you will avoid supporting them by not having business dealings with them.

Here are some articles discussing sheltered workshops.
